The sadhu’s charade in Kariala made people laugh.
Shimla, October 24. The traditional Bhaiya Dooj fair, which has been celebrated since ancient times in Peeran of Junga tehsil, concluded on Thursday night with the staging of Kariyala. Thousands of people from Keonthal area as well as from the border areas of Sirmaur district thoroughly enjoyed the fair. The artists of Bijeshwar Lok Nataya Kariyala Kala Manch enthralled the audience by presenting the traditional sadhu’s play and made them laugh, while the artists also made the audience dance by presenting one better than the other hill dramas.
Kariyala began with Chandrawali and Kahan dances. Renowned folk singer Roshni Sharma enthralled the audience with her performance of “Roiyo Ratari Kati Nehri.” She then performed a series of dances from Shimla, Sirmaur, and Kullu. Emerging artist Beenu Gandharva presented a Pahari dance called “Jolo Pani Re Dive Re Narina Pooja Karni Bijto Ri,” followed by female artists Premlata Thakur and Raksha’s Deep Dance, which enthralled the audience. Renowned artist Bhuvan Sharma enthralled the audience with his rendition of “Aeri Maaye Neerjue.” He also mesmerized the audience with his melodious voice, presenting a medley of Hindi Pahari songs. Kariyala Kala Manch President Deep Ram Sharma, Secretary Bishan Dutt Sharma, and other artists provided a lively atmosphere throughout the night. Manoj Bhardwaj hosted the stage and kept the audience engaged.
During the day in the fair, the artists of Shivranjani Cultural Group Kot Balg of Information and Public Relations Department presented Hindi Pahari plays and entertained the people who came to the fair. Famous artist Pravesh Nihalta enthralled the audience by singing Ghazals like Hum Tere Sheher Me Aaye Musafir. Before this, Jatra i.e. Shobha Yatra was taken out in the name of deity Qawali and Junga in the fair. In which hundreds of people of the area, dancing to the tune of drums and shehnai, reached Thaud temple via 22 Tika Sthan Jubbar, where people showered walnuts in the name of Mata Thaud.
Fair committee head Attar Singh Thakur welcomed the people who came to the fair and told that since time immemorial, Bhaiya Dooj is celebrated every year in Peeran in the name of deities Junga and Kawali and Vijayeshwari Mata Thaud.
