Awareness workshop concludes in Solan
Ramp scheme will give new impetus to innovation and growth in the MSME sector

Awareness workshop was organised under Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme.
The workshop discussed the role of the ‘RAMP Programme for Accelerating and Upgrading Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Performance’ in enhancing the growth, innovation and competitiveness of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
Providing information about the scheme, Mr. Surendra Thakur, General Manager, Industries Department, Solan, stated that the Industries Department is developing clusters for small entrepreneurs under the Cluster Scheme, a part of the central government’s Ramp Scheme. He explained that this scheme, supported by the World Bank, is the most significant reform-based initiative of the Ministry of MSME. Participants were also informed about the GIFT and SPICE schemes.

The Director General of the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (DFO) provided detailed information about the Government of India’s schemes for the development of MSMEs. He explained how to obtain enterprise registration. The Ramp scheme aims to enhance the financial stability, technological empowerment, and market access of the MSME sector. He also explained how all entrepreneurs can benefit from central government schemes through the state government.
Gagan Kumar, Economic Investigator, District Industries Centre Solan, Sunil Kaushik, Extension Officer DIC Solan and Vinod Kumar, Kunihar Solan Extension Officer Vinod Kumar and others were also specially present in this workshop.
Industry department experts said the scheme is particularly beneficial for hill states like Himachal as it promotes innovation, digitisation and sustainable industrial development while addressing challenges like limited credit flow, market access, and low formalisation.
Giving information about the scheme, Vivek Tiwari said that under the cluster system, high technology, machinery and equipment will be made available to the enterprises at the cluster level, which are being provided under the Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP).
During the event, information was given about the MSME Greening Initiative and the importance of adopting environment-friendly practices and enhancing competitiveness through it was highlighted.
The workshop also discussed the role of “Common Facility Centers (CFCs), which will help strengthen the quality, competitiveness, and growth of micro-enterprises. The challenges and opportunities for local industries through Common Facility Centers were discussed in detail.
Over 100 participants attended the workshop, including representatives from MSME artisan groups, tourism sector participants, FPO/FPC members, and budding entrepreneurs. All members of the Solan District Ramp team were also present.
