Shimla: In a significant decision aimed at strengthening healthcare services, the state cabinet has approved the reappointment of retired medical professors in government medical colleges.
According to the decision, retired professors will be appointed not only in IGMC Shimla and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda, but also in four other medical colleges across the state. The move is intended to address the shortage of experienced faculty and improve patient care and medical education.
The cabinet has fixed a monthly remuneration of ₹2.5 lakh for reappointed professors, while those serving in the radiology departments will receive ₹3 lakh per month, considering the acute shortage of specialists in the field.
Officials stated that this step will help ensure continuity in healthcare services and enhance the quality of medical training in state-run institutions.
