Shimla
On January 2, the second Shimla Winter Carnival will take place after being postponed to honor the memory of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Renowned Punjabi musician Satinder Sartaj’s appearance on Thursday is the carnival’s high point. Sartaj’s performance, which was initially slated for the last night, will now take center stage alongside performances by Himachali folk artists and Bollywood vocalists.
After being interrupted at first, the carnival will now end on January 8, according to Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan. The carnival stalls continued to operate even though cultural events were postponed in honor of Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Following the overwhelming success of its first event in 2023, the Shimla Winter Carnival was introduced. The Municipal Corporation organized the event, which includes decorations at popular tourist destinations including The Mall and The Ridge, which are lit up and crowded with people at different booths. To entertain both visitors and residents, a variety of cultural events were organized.
The carnival, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, attracted sizable audiences from all across the nation at first. However, the town’s celebrations were hampered by the lack of live music and cultural activities on New Year’s Eve because of the mourning period. Nevertheless, visitors showed off the town’s vibrant energy by singing and dancing on their own as they rang in the New Year.
With rescheduled performances, the carnival is now expected to reclaim its appeal and provide both locals and tourists with an unforgettable experience.
