A young roller skaters from Shimla delivered an impressive performance at the 11th Open Roller Skating Championship, organised by Gagan Sports Center, Punjab, at Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla.
The championship brought together 224 boys and girls from different parts of the region. Teams from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand participated in the competition. The event provided young skaters an opportunity to compete across various age groups and showcase their skills and sporting talent. Shimla participants performed strongly, securing gold, silver and bronze medals in different categories.
Among the girls, Chetna Sood won a bronze medal in Under-8 Quads, while Anaisha Thakur bagged gold in Under-8. Aishwika Sharma secured a silver medal in Under-8. In the Under-10 girls’ category, Tejasvi Kuthiala clinched the gold medal, while Swaranjali Thakur won silver. Yangkye Negi secured a silver medal in Under-14, and Joanne Tatung won gold in the Above-16 category.
Among the boys, Mrityunjay Chauhan won a bronze medal in Under-8, while Revanth Chauhan secured silver in Under-10. In the Under-12 boys’ category, Avyukt Thakur emerged with a gold medal, while Herambh Ranta won silver.The Under-14 boys’ category also saw a strong performance from Shimla skaters, with Kunal Thakur securing silver, while Sarthak Aggarwal and Jahaan Jaswal won bronze medals.

The championship was organised by Gagan Sports Center, Punjab, with Gagan, Pankaj Prabhakar, Rocky, Navneet, Satish and Arun Kumar associated with the conduct of the event.The performance of the Shimla contingent was welcomed by parents, coaches and sports enthusiasts, with the young skaters’ medal-winning performances reflecting the growing participation of children in roller skating in the region.
