The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Himachal Pradesh on September 28, with thunderstorms and strong winds also expected in parts of the state.According to the weather department, winds reaching 40-50 kmph may blow across eight districts during the period. Sirmaur has been placed under an orange alert, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely.
A yellow alert has been issued for Bilaspur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Kinnaur, where heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible.The weather is expected to remain unsettled on September 29, with a yellow alert for Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur. However, light to moderate rainfall may occur in mid-hill areas between September 30 and October 2.
The forecast comes amid the possibility of rain and snowfall in some parts of the state, with a few spells of moderate rain or snowfall likely in isolated areas. Residents and tourists, particularly those travelling through hilly and vulnerable areas, have been advised to remain cautious during heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds.
