Shoolini University strengthened its presence in the field of intellectual property, innovation, and design through participation in two major national conferences held in New Delhi.
A delegation from the Shoolini Intellectual Property Rights Office (SIPRO) attended the World IP Day Conference 2026 at Vanijya Bhawan on April 28. Organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM), the conference was held under the theme “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate.”
Shoolini University was represented by Mr Himanshu Sharma, Senior Manager – IPR, and Dr Richika Mehta, Assistant Professor – IPR.
The conference explored the growing role of intellectual property in sports, including athlete and media rights, GI tags, sports equipment innovation, data, wearables, and performance analytics as emerging IP assets. Representatives from global brands such as ASICS, Adidas, and JioStar shared industry perspectives during the sessions.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal also announced a three-year waiver on government fees for sports-related IP filings to encourage innovation in the sector.
The delegation later attended the CII World Innovation, Design and Intellectual Property Conference 2026 at the India Habitat Centre. The conference was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser and the Intellectual Property Office of the Government of India.
Held under the theme “Design & IP: Powering Innovation and Economic Growth,” the conference brought together experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), along with industry leaders from Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Qualcomm, and Meril Life Sciences.
The event featured discussions on innovation-led growth, design monetisation, and global IP systems. Key highlights included the launch of reports on India’s Orange Economy and a CII–EUIPO masterclass on European design protection systems.
During both conferences, delegates and experts appreciated Shoolini University’s efforts in building a fully in-house IP ecosystem through SIPRO. The office has developed a comprehensive support system for research, innovation, IP filing, management, and consultancy services for startups, industries, and individuals.
SIPRO currently operates with a team of 10 specialised professionals working across different areas of intellectual property.
The participation reflected Shoolini University’s continued focus on research, innovation, and intellectual property development. SIPRO also acknowledged the support and guidance of the University leadership and Prof Dinesh Kumar in strengthening the institution’s IP ecosystem.
