26 field trainers briefed on technical and practical aspects
Shimla:
A three-day training programme for Census 2027 commenced on Wednesday at Bachat Bhawan to train 26 field trainers appointed in the district. The programme is being conducted under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) and District Census Officer Jyoti Rana and will continue from May 6 to May 8.
During the training, the field trainers were provided detailed guidance on the technical and practical aspects of the census and the procedures to be followed during data collection.
The training sessions are being conducted by master trainers Dr Harsh and Dev Datt Sharma. Assistant Director of the Census Directorate Priyanshu Tiwari, District Nodal Officer Ramesh Kumar, along with other officials and staff members, were also present on the occasion.
Census to be conducted digitally for the first time
District Census Officer Jyoti Rana informed that the census will be conducted digitally for the first time. Under Census 2027, a self-enumeration facility has been introduced, allowing citizens to submit their details through the HLO mobile application and the official web portal from June 1 to June 15, 2026.
Following this phase, house listing and housing enumeration will be carried out from June 16 to July 15, 2026.
She said that census officials are not merely responsible for collecting information but also play an important role in strengthening the foundation of the country’s development. The data collected through the census forms the basis for policy-making and development planning.
Appeal to residents
Jyoti Rana said that such training programmes are essential to ensure the smooth and effective conduct of census activities. She assured that all information collected during the census will remain completely confidential.
She appealed to residents of the district to provide accurate and complete information to census officials so that the enumeration process can be completed accurately. She also urged officials involved in the exercise to perform their duties with dedication and honesty.
