A webinar on “I-STEM: The platform for researchers and funding opportunities” was organised by iHUB Shoolini supported by iHUB DivyaSampark, Technology Innovation Hub, a joint initiative of DST, Government of India and IIT Roorkee and in collaboration with the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, at Shoolini University.

The key speaker for the webinar was Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Shrivastava, IIT Delhi, National Coordinator, Indian Science Technology and Engineering Facilities Map (I-STEM), Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

Dr. Deepak Kumar, Coordinator, iHUB Shoolini and Associate Professor, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shoolini University welcomed all the guests and dignitaries. He highlighted iHUB Shoolini and its role in innovation, which includes the opportunities to collaborate on various aspects, like identifying industry-relevant problems and providing feedback as appropriate.

Prof Atul Khosla, Vice Chancellor, Shoolini University, addressed the audience and discussed the role of science and technology in entrepreneurship, the role of entrepreneurship and start-up and the role of institutions and government in entrepreneurship.

He also highlighted the initiative taken by the iHUB Shoolini for funding opportunities/grants towards the establishment of new start-ups, engaging students and emerging scholars for innovative ideas in Cyber Physical Systems in Healthcare 4.0, Industry 4.0, and Smart Cities, and scholarship opportunities for emerging young scholars from and around Himachal Pradesh.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Shrivastava, Chief Operating Officer and National Coordinator, I-STEM, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, talked about I-STEM: the platform for researchers and funding opportunities. He discussed I-STEM and how it can be helpful for researchers from different fields by initiating, organising and supporting various scientific programs, initiated by the office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India. The goal of the I-STEM platform is to strengthen the research and development ecosystem by connecting researchers with resources.

During the panel discussion, Prof. R.C Sobti, former vice chancellor of the Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, discussed, motivated, and appreciated the need for and importance of ISTEM for academic institutes, colleges, and universities for carrying out smooth research. The session was ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Deepak Kapoor, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shoolini University. The webinar was attended by faculty, students, and researchers from different institutes.
