State Food Commission Chairman Dr. SP Katyal took serious cognizance of the discovery of weevils and insects in the rice served to children at Anganwadis and ordered the Central Public Provisional Officers (CDPOs) to conduct a detailed investigation. During a routine inspection by the State Food Commission, 10 Anganwadi centers in the Dhar Chandana Circle of Kupvi Tehsil in the Chopal subdivision of the district were found closed.
The respective Anganwadi workers were called in and the centers were opened and inspected. During the inspection, it was found that the rice served to the children was infested with weevils and insects. Regarding this negligence, State Food Commission Chairman Dr. SP Katyal immediately ordered a halt to the distribution of contaminated food items and strict action be taken against the guilty employees.
The Anganwadi centers inspected included those in Gaonkhar, Dhar-1, Dhar-2, Sharad, Bathadi, Dak, Bawat, Oran, Mushadi, and Majhgaon in the Kupvi subdivision. CDPO Chaupal has been instructed to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter and ensure immediate necessary action.
