India’s leading mountaineering organization, White Expedition, has created a new history by successfully climbing Mount Thinchenkhang, 6010 meters, the inaccessible and prestigious peak of the Eastern Himalayas. This peak is located within the Kanchenjunga National Park and is considered to be full of technical challenges. The team started the expedition from Yuksom on May 8 and reached the base camp in 4 days after doing a difficult trek of about 45 km. The final summit push started at 11 pm on May 14 and at 8:40 am on May 15, the team successfully hoisted the tricolor on the peak.
The expedition was led by experienced mountaineer Rahul, alias Ricky Mountaineer. Co-leader Nikita set an example of women’s leadership. Aaron Sherpa and Thinles Gyatso, Ladakhi guides, provided technical and guidance support in the expedition. Other members of the team included Swapna, Harshit, and Revant, who were above 6000 meters for the first time.
