The two-day district-level Sipur Fair concluded on Friday under the chairmanship of Manjeet Sharma in Shimla.
Sports competitions remained the major attraction of the fair, with nearly 50 teams participating in volleyball and kabaddi events along with a quiz competition. A total of 18 teams participated in volleyball, while 10 teams competed in the women’s kabaddi tournament and 22 teams took part in the men’s kabaddi competition.
During the closing ceremony, the SDM honoured the winning teams with trophies and cash prizes. In the women’s kabaddi competition, Baba Jogon team secured the first position, while the Paonta Sahib team finished second.
In volleyball, Love Brothers team clinched the first position and Negi Brothers team secured second place. The winning teams were awarded a cash prize of ₹31,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up received ₹18,000 and a trophy.
Students from various educational institutions presented colourful cultural performances during the event. Participating institutions included Government Model Senior Secondary School Mashobra, Sophia School Mashobra, Government Senior Secondary School Mulkoti and Government ITI Mashobra among others.
A health check-up camp was also organised by the Health and Family Welfare Department during the fair, while self-help groups set up stalls showcasing local products.
Sanjeev Gupta and several other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
