Amid rumours of a tuberculosis outbreak at MGMSC Khneri Nursing Hostel in Rampur, authorities have clarified that only two students have tested TB positive, dismissing claims of 19 infections as false.
Both cases were detected months apart and treatment was started immediately, officials said. A total of 16 close contacts have been identified and placed on preventive therapy as per Government of India guidelines. None of them are infected.
The administration also confirmed that no MDR-TB cases have been reported, countering misinformation circulating on social media.
Health officials stated that all protocols under the National TB Elimination Programme have been strictly followed, including screening and preventive measures to contain any spread.
Authorities have urged people to avoid rumours and rely on official updates, assuring that the situation remains under control.
