Shimla, May 2:
The Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, has issued a notice for counselling of qualified in-service teachers for the post of Principal in government schools affiliated with CBSE. The counselling will be held on May 5 and 6, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Directorate in Lalpani, Shimla.
According to the schedule, candidates with merit numbers 1 to 200 will attend on May 5, while those ranked 201 to 330 will be called on May 6. Reporting time for the forenoon session is 9:00 AM and for the afternoon session is 1:00 PM.
The department has made it mandatory for candidates to bring a duly filled counselling form (Annexure-A) along with original documents, including an in-service certificate, undertaking, and proof of date of birth. Officials clarified that no separate intimation will be sent to candidates, and all must follow the notified schedule strictly.
Provision for virtual counselling has been made only for teachers engaged in election duties, subject to submission of valid proof in advance.
Candidates unwilling to participate must inform the department via email or WhatsApp at least one day prior, failing which their candidature may be cancelled. The department also warned that absence during the allotted session will lead to automatic disqualification.
A list of 145 CBSE-affiliated government schools across districts has been released for preference filling. Candidates are required to submit their choices during counselling.
