Deputy Chief Minister said in the workshop of Jal Shakti Department, decisive decisions will be taken in the interest of the employees.
Una, July 25. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced that approximately 4,000 positions will be filled in the Water Power Department this fiscal year. He added that no project can be successful without adequate manpower. Therefore, the government is placing special emphasis on strengthening the department and providing employment to the youth.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a one-day workshop and orientation program on the operation, maintenance, and water quality monitoring of water supply and irrigation schemes, organized by the Jal Shakti Department, Hamirpur Zone, at the Palakwah Auditorium in Haroli on Saturday. He also honored department employees for their outstanding work.
Describing the newly appointed parapump operators, parafitters, multipurpose workers, and water guards as the department’s flagships, he said they play a vital role in providing clean and safe drinking water to the people of the state. He said their future is bright and they should continue working with patience. This is a job with pension benefits until the age of 58. He assured that decisive decisions related to the interests of these employees will be made during the current government’s tenure.
Mukesh Agnihotri stated that a comprehensive plan worth approximately 2,000 crore rupees will be implemented to improve the quality of drinking water and modernize the water purification system in the state. Under the plan, modern technology-based water purification systems will be installed, providing clean and safe drinking water to the state’s residents and reducing waterborne diseases. He stated that the Jal Shakti Department is implementing this plan in a phased manner.
He said that Rs 300 crore has been approved for the completion of the Phina Singh Irrigation Project in Kangra district. He said that work is progressing rapidly on development projects worth crores of rupees by the Water Power Department in the state.
The Deputy Chief Minister, calling for everyone’s cooperation in the decisive fight against drug abuse, said that 36 employees involved in drug-related cases have been dismissed from service. He added that the government will not tolerate any laxity on this issue.
He said that the public is well aware of those who politicize development projects. Taking a dig at BJP leaders, he said that those who cannot count their own achievements are not even interested in the development work done by others. He said that his only goal is to build a “golden and developed Haroli.” He believes in the politics of development, not politics, and will continue to work for the public’s benefit.
The Deputy Chief Minister announced that from next year, a tradition of honoring employees who perform outstanding work in the Water Power Department would be instituted. He urged employees to earn the public’s trust through their excellent work and behavior and further strengthen the department’s reputation.
Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Vibhag, Rohit Dubey, while welcoming the Deputy Chief Minister, said that under his guidance, the officers and employees of the department are working day and night to achieve the goal of ‘water to every house, every farm’.
During the workshop, Hamirpur Superintending Engineer Vikas Kapoor provided detailed information on water quality, standards for safe and pure drinking water, and sanitation measures. Executive Engineer Mandi Lalita gave a detailed presentation on water quality testing, chlorination, regular maintenance of drinking water schemes, safety standards, and the effective use of modern technologies.
On this occasion, State Congress Committee President Ranjit Singh Rana, Block Congress Committee President Sandeep Agnihotri, District Council members Kewal Singh, Sulinder Kaur and Jyoti Wala, Youth Congress District President Prashant Roy, Panchayat Samiti member Madhu Dhiman, Congress leaders Satish Bittu, Pramod Kumar, Jaspal Jassa, Mehtab Thakur, Chief Engineer Hamirpur Zone Rohit Dubey, Superintending Engineer Hamirpur Vikas Kapoor, Superintending Engineer Una Naresh Dhiman, Executive Engineer Una Puneet Sharma, Executive Engineer Mandi Lalita along with other officers and employees of the Water Power Department were present.
