Shimla

A total of 6,886 students appeared for a state-level selection examination conducted by Samagra Shiksha at 134 centres across Himachal Pradesh for free coaching for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) under the Super-100 programme.

The initiative aims to provide meritorious students from government schools, particularly those from economically weaker families, with access to quality coaching for national-level engineering and medical entrance examinations.Under the programme, 200 meritorious students from Class 11 in PM SHRI schools and other government schools will be selected through the examination. The selected students will receive free coaching for JEE or NEET, based on their interests and the prescribed programme. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between students who can afford expensive private coaching and those who lack access to such resources, ensuring that financial constraints do not limit their opportunities to pursue careers in engineering and medicine.

Students selected under the Super-100 programme will be provided with quality study material and guidance from subject experts to strengthen their conceptual understanding and prepare systematically for competitive examinations. The programme will also include two special boot camps during the year, offering students additional opportunities for subject preparation, practice and guidance on examination strategies.

Regular counselling and mentorship by subject experts will also be provided to help students resolve academic doubts, monitor their preparation and address challenges during their studies.Rajiv Kumar, State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, said the government was committed to ensuring quality education and equal opportunities for every student.

He said the Super-100 programme was designed to help meritorious students develop their potential by providing quality coaching irrespective of their financial circumstances. The initiative is also expected to benefit students from rural and remote areas of the state, enabling them to prepare for national-level entrance examinations with better academic support.
