A strong wave of enthusiasm was witnessed among voters during the polling for Nagar Panchayat Chirgaon, where 80.42 per cent voting was recorded.
Returning Officer (MC) and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil) Rohru, Dharmesh Ramotra, said that a total of 1,310 voters exercised their franchise in the elections, reflecting active public participation in the democratic process.
He informed that out of the total voters, 670 were men and 640 were women. Voters turned up in large numbers throughout the day, resulting in nearly 81 per cent polling in the Nagar Panchayat.
Ward-wise polling percentage remained impressive, with Ward No. 01 recording 85.71 per cent voting, Ward No. 03 with 74.14 per cent, Ward No. 04 with 65.88 per cent, Ward No. 05 with 79.51 per cent, Ward No. 06 with 83.38 per cent and Ward No. 07 registering the highest turnout of 92.50 per cent.
Dharmesh Ramotra said the overall polling percentage of 80.42 reflected people’s awareness and active participation in strengthening democracy.
