As part of the ongoing anti-drug awareness campaign being undertaken by the Brahma Kumaris, special programmes for university students were organised on Monday evening at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. Separate sessions were conducted for girls and boys to facilitate greater participation and interaction. Around 600 students of the university participated in the two programmes.
The first session was attended by nearly 350 girl students from different hostels of the University, followed by a separate session for around 250 boys, mainly from the senior years. The students were motivated to stay away from drugs and addictions and adopt a healthy, disciplined, positive and purposeful way of life. The programmes were led by BK Sister Kalpana, who conducted Rajyoga meditation sessions for both groups. She encouraged the students to develop inner strength, positive thinking, self-discipline and the ability to resist harmful habits and peer pressure. She also administered an anti-drug pledge to the students, who resolved to remain free from drugs and inspire their friends, families and society to adopt a healthy and addiction-free lifestyle.
A short anti-drug skit was presented separately during both sessions to communicate the message in an engaging manner. BK Sister Ambika played the role of a Divine Angel, conveying an inspiring message of overcoming negative habits and choosing a life based on values, self-respect and spiritual strength. The students responded enthusiastically to the skits as well as the meditation sessions.
The programmes also concluded with the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ which was led by BK Sister Pritika, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, patriotism and collective commitment. The students expressed happiness and keen interest in the meditation, motivational messages and skits.
The Brahma Kumaris team included BK Sister Kalpana, Sister Pritika, Sister Ambika, Sister Aarti, Sister Ritika and Sister Asha, along with Jai Pal Bhai, Jai Kishan Bhai, Suresh Bhai, Shyaam Bhai, Ram Bhai, Ashwani Bhai, Baldev Bhai and other dedicated members.
Special gratitude was expressed to Rajyogini BK Sushma Didi, whose guidance and blessings have been the driving force behind the campaign. Under her guidance, the message of a drug-free, value-based and spiritually empowered life is being taken to students, youth and the wider community across the Solan region. The Brahma Kumaris expressed sincere gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Harminder Singh Baweja, for his wholehearted support and encouragement in organising the campaign on the University campus. The Vice-Chancellor highly appreciated the initiative and assured continued collaboration with the Brahma Kumaris sisters for similar programmes aimed at student welfare, character building and social awareness in the future.
Gratitude was also expressed to Dean Students’ Welfare Dr. Satish Bhardwaj, all the concerned hostel wardens, and University officials and staff for their valuable cooperation in making the programmes successful. The programme reinforced the message that the vision of a Drug-Free India can be achieved not only by preventing substance abuse but also by empowering young people with self-confidence, positive thinking, discipline, inner strength and strong human values.
