Shimla
The agitation will intensify across the state from today, i.e., Monday, regarding the surplus and abolition of the posts of employees in the electricity board. In all the electricity subdivisions and other offices of the state, including the electricity board headquarters, the electricity board employees and technical employees, including engineers, will work wearing black badges and will protest against the anti-electricity board employee decisions of the state government.
At the same time, from Monday, the employees will work under work-to-rule, that is, they will do 8 hours of duty. Whatever work is related to the employees and officers in these hours, only that will be done. After this, the employees will not do any work.
In such a situation, the system of restoring power supply in the power lines can also be affected. On the call of the Joint Action Committee of Electricity Board Employees, Engineers, and Pensioners, the employees in the state will protest against the government’s abolition of posts. This protest will continue till the government does not withdraw the decisions taken.
Joint Action Committee convenor Lokesh Thakur and co-convenor Heera Lal Verma said that the government is taking anti-employee decisions. To date, no government has taken such decisions for the board employees. In such a situation, while it will be opposed by wearing black badges, a district electricity panchayat will be organized on 7 demands in Hamirpur district on 11th February.
After that, district electricity panchayats will be organized in other districts as well, which will be announced from Hamirpur.
If a decision is not taken soon, workers can go on mass casual leave.
If the government does not take any decision soon and does not withdraw the decisions taken, then on 24th February, all the electricity employees and engineers of Himachal Pradesh will be forced to take a decision to go on mass casual leave.
