There is a possibility of snowfall for 2 days in the high-altitude areas of Himachal; after that, the weather will remain clear till 15 February. Light snowfall was recorded in the high-altitude areas of the state last night, which has increased the cold. People are definitely getting relief from the cold due to sunshine during the day in the plains of the state, but the effect of the cold wave continues in the morning and night. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center Shimla, due to the activation of Western Disturbance, light to moderate snowfall may occur in the high-altitude areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba, Shimla and Kullu districts on 10 and 11 February, although no alert has been issued yet. Due to this change in weather, the cold may increase once again in the state.
In the last 24 hours, about 2 cm of snowfall has been recorded in Kukumseri of Lahaul-Spiti. This snowfall increased the effect of cold in the hilly areas, while severe cold continues to prevail in the tribal areas. The minimum temperature in these areas has been recorded in minus. Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti, was the coldest place in the state, where the minimum temperature was recorded at -5.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Apart from this, the minimum temperature was recorded at -5.3 degrees in Tabo, -3.9 degrees in Kukumseri and 0.1 degrees in Kalpa of Kinnaur district. The minimum temperature of Manali and Shimla was recorded at 4.9 and 7.6 degrees Celsius respectively. In the last 24 hours, the average minimum temperature of the state has increased by 1.7 degrees Celsius.
Director of Meteorological Center Shimla Kuldeep Srivastava said that light to moderate snowfall may occur in the mountainous areas of the state on February 10 and 11. After that, the weather will remain clear in entire Himachal from February 12 to 15. There may be a slight increase in temperature during the day, but nights will still remain cold.
