The foundation of the rural economy is laid in Panchayat houses – Anirudh Singh
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddha Singh said that the foundation of rural economy and development is laid in the Panchayat houses, hence it is the priority of the government to equip the Panchayats with modern facilities.
Anirudh Singh inaugurated the new Panchayat Community Hall in Mehli Panchayat on Friday. He also attended a program held at the Government Senior Secondary School in Mehli and inaugurated a herbal garden. He also laid the foundation stone for the Ghorpa to Shildi road.
Anirudh Singh said that the new Panchayat Bhawan, constructed at a cost of ₹1.14 crore (11.4 million rupees), has modern amenities. The building includes a Panchayat conference room, a library, offices for the village head and Panchayat secretary, a Village Employment Service (GRS) room, a kitchen, and toilets, among other amenities.
He said that similar new Panchayat buildings are being constructed across the state. Himachal Pradesh is the only state in the country where the design of new Panchayat buildings has been kept uniform.
The Cabinet Minister stated that approximately 50 lakh rupees have been spent on development work in Mehli Panchayat over the past two years. He added that a multi-purpose building with parking facilities will soon be constructed in the area, which will also accommodate various events. An estimate for this is being prepared.
Stay away from drugs and make sports an integral part of your life, youth
Anirudh Singh said that land has been identified for the construction of a large sports ground in the area, and it will be developed in the near future. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and make sports an integral part of their lives. He said that the state government is providing financial assistance to youth through various self-employment schemes, so youth should develop means of self-employment.
Anirudh Singh said that the state government is working towards providing modern facilities in government schools on the lines of convent schools. He informed that so far, 150 government schools in the state have been recognized under the CBSE board.
He announced the construction of four new toilets in the Mehli school building under construction. He also announced a grant of 50,000 rupees to promote sports and cultural activities at the school.
On this occasion, the Minister inaugurated the Herbal Garden at the Government Senior Secondary School, Mehli. Through the Herbal Garden, students will have the opportunity to learn about medicinal plants and their importance.
Chairman of APMC Kinnaur and Shimla, Devanand Verma, stated that the state government does not compromise on development projects. He noted that numerous development projects are underway in the Mehli area. He added that the government has upgraded primary schools to the 12th level. The state government is moving forward with the resolve of a self-reliant Himachal.
