Lok Sabha MP Anurag Singh Thakur will represent India at the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, scheduled to be held in Arusha, Tanzania, from October 5 to 9, 2026. As a key member of the high-level Indian Parliamentary Delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Anurag Singh Thakur will present India’s perspective and democratic values at the forum of the world’s largest global parliamentary organisation, comprising 183 member countries.
The central theme of this year’s Assembly is Enhancing good governance and empowering communities through inclusivity, trust and opportunities for all. The Assembly will deliberate on this theme as well as important issues concerning global peace, development, democracy and human rights.
Anurag Singh Thakur is a key member of the Standing Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians. His participation in discussions on human rights, international security and democratic values assumes particular significance. His interventions before parliamentarians and representatives from 183 countries will help place India’s clear and strong perspective before the global community.
His participation will further strengthen India’s parliamentary diplomacy and provide an important platform to effectively articulate India’s democratic outlook and issues of national interest before the international community.
