Mandi, August 10, 2026: Better coordination among agriculture and allied departments was stressed at a meeting of the Governing Body of the ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency) project, chaired by Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan on Monday.
Reviewing various activities being undertaken for the welfare of farmers, Devgan directed all line departments to work in close coordination and ensure that information about government schemes and programmes reaches farmers effectively. He called for village-level camps and training programmes to familiarise farmers with modern agricultural technologies, departmental schemes and available facilities so that more farmers could benefit from them.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed officials to document and widely publicise the success stories of progressive farmers. He said sharing their experiences, innovative practices and successful agricultural techniques with other farmers would encourage them to adopt modern and profitable farming methods.
Devgan also emphasised the need to strengthen market and mandi linkages for farmers’ produce. He directed the concerned departments to take coordinated steps to ensure better market access and help increase farmers’ income.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with progressive farmers and sought their experiences, suggestions and feedback. He also directed officials to take necessary action on the issues raised by the farmers.
He said effective implementation of schemes at the grassroots level, along with technical knowledge, innovation and efficient extension services, was essential to improve agricultural productivity and farmers’ income.
The meeting also discussed the ₹3.53-crore district extension action plan for 2026-27, under which training programmes, skill development activities, demonstrations, farmer meetings, exposure visits and other agricultural extension activities are being undertaken.
Project Director, ATMA, Rakesh Patial, gave a detailed presentation on the activities, achievements and upcoming action plan of the project.
