A restaurant chef was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his rented room near Rest House Chowk in Sundernagar, Mandi, on Sunday morning. The deceased, identified as Surender Singh Negi, failed to report for work, prompting his colleagues to call him repeatedly. When he did not respond, they reached his rented accommodation and broke open the door after finding it locked from inside. They found him lying unresponsive on the bed.
Police were informed and took the body into custody before sending it to Civil Hospital Sundernagar for post-mortem examination. According to the preliminary police inquiry, a cardiac arrest is suspected, although the exact cause of death will be established only after the post-mortem report. Police have said that no suspicion of foul play has emerged so far.
