Bank strike for 3 days from September 28

Bank customers across India may face disruptions in branch and office services from September 28 to September 30, 2026, as the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has proposed a three-day nationwide strike.Several banks, including State Bank of India (SBI), Indian Bank and Union Bank of India, have issued advisories urging customers to complete branch-dependent transactions ahead of the proposed strike.

SBI said the UFBU has proposed the strike from September 28 to 30 and advised customers to plan transactions requiring a branch visit in advance.During the proposed strike period, customers may continue to access routine banking services through ATMs, Customer Service Points, internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and other digital channels, subject to availability.

Customers who need services such as cash deposits or withdrawals at branches, cheque-related work, account-related requests or other in-person banking services should consider completing them before September 28 to avoid potential inconvenience. The proposed strike could affect the functioning of bank branches and offices, although digital banking and ATM services are expected to remain available.
