Shimla, April 20, 2026
In a significant decision, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has approved the inclusion of contractual service in the calculation of pensionary benefits, offering major relief to its employees.
According to an official order issued from HRTC Headquarters in Shimla, the corporation has adopted the State Government’s instructions outlined in OM No. Fin(Pen)E(1)/2020 dated June 10, 2024, issued in the Sheela Devi case. These instructions will now be applicable to HRTC employees.
The order directs all Divisional and Regional Managers to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines issued by the State Government, both in letter and spirit. The matter has been categorized as “Most Urgent,” indicating immediate implementation.
The directive, issued by Executive Director Naresh Verma (HPAS), has been circulated to all concerned officials for necessary action.
This move is expected to benefit a large number of employees who have served on a contractual basis, as their service period will now be considered in pension calculations.
