Nahan, May 16, 2026
Rajeev Bindal launched a sharp attack on the Congress government during the Nahan Municipal Council election campaign, alleging that the city’s development had come to a complete standstill over the last three and a half years. He appealed to the people of Nahan to elect BJP-backed candidates with a huge mandate to restore the city’s pace of progress and development.
Addressing voters, Dr Bindal claimed that the Congress government had pushed Nahan towards “stagnation and administrative paralysis” instead of development. He alleged that not a single new parking facility or public park had been developed during the Congress tenure, while several important civic projects remained stalled.
The BJP leader further accused the state government of halting key infrastructure and healthcare projects initiated during the BJP regime. He said the construction work of the Medical College, Nursing College and Mother & Child Hospital had either been stopped or delayed, causing setbacks to the city’s healthcare and educational infrastructure.
Dr Bindal alleged that the Congress government focused more on shutting down institutions and government offices rather than strengthening public facilities. According to him, the people of Nahan were disappointed with what he described as the politics of closure and inaction.
Highlighting the BJP government’s previous tenure, he said Nahan witnessed unprecedented development during that period, including the construction of multi-storey parking facilities, public parks, improved drinking water supply and expansion of medical infrastructure. He asserted that once the BJP returns to power in Himachal Pradesh, Nahan would once again witness a new era of development and pending projects would be completed on priority.
Taking a dig at the Congress government’s poll guarantees, Dr Bindal said promises made to women, youth and unemployed people had turned out to be “mere election slogans.” He alleged that commitments such as ₹1500 monthly assistance for women, employment opportunities for youth and accelerated development had failed to materialise.
Calling upon the voters to give a democratic response through the ballot box, Dr Bindal said the municipal elections were not just about electing councillors but about deciding the future direction of Nahan’s growth and development. He urged residents to support BJP-backed candidates to bring the city back on the path of progress and infrastructure growth.
