Shimla
The circular road of the city will also be connected to the Kaithlighat-Dhali part of Kalka-Shimla four lane. Thousands of people of the city will benefit from this. A 900 meter long flyover is being built in Chalonthi to connect the four lane to the circular road. This flyover will connect the tunnel coming out of Chalunthi with Dhalli-IGMC road. The flyover will be built in arc shape and its height from the ground will be 72 meters. People of the city can go to Chandigarh by traveling directly from Chalonthi via Kalka-Shimla four lane. This will provide relief from the jams near the crossings in the city.
The first pillar of the flyover will be 71 meters, the second 65 meters, the third 55 meters and the remaining pillars will be 45 meters high. After the construction of four lanes, it will be easy to reach Chandigarh from Shimla. The flyover will have a total of 15 pillars. All pillars are expected to be ready in the next seven months. More than 200 laborers are engaged in the construction work of this ambitious project so that it can be completed within the stipulated time frame. Structure Engineer Anwar Ali said that currently due to cold, work is being done from 8 am to 7 pm. Presently the work of shuttering the pillar is being done. A structure of rods is being built in the upper part of the pillar. For this, workers are doing construction work by hanging from cranes at a height of 70 meters from the group.
After this the bars will be strengthened with concrete. After the pillars are ready, flyover platforms will be prepared in the mold. These will be placed on top of the pillar using a crane. For better traffic flow in Chalonthi, a roundabout will also be built on the lines of Chandigarh. For this, Dhali-IGMC road has been widened by 10 meters. This flyover will not only reduce the traffic problem but will also enhance the beauty of the city. Currently, traffic problems are a major challenge in the city, especially during the tourist season. The construction of this flyover will streamline traffic between different parts of the city and reduce travel time. NHAI site engineer Yogesh Verma said that the four-lane work is going on war footing. After the construction of this four lane, the journey to Chandigarh will be easy.
The construction work of the four lane project between Kaithlighat-Dhali is being done in two phases. In the first phase, a 17.5 km long four lane is being built from Kaithlighat to Shakral. 20 bridges, 4 tunnels, one underpass and one toll plaza are being constructed in this phase at a cost of Rs 1,844 crore. In the second phase, 11 km work from Shakral to Dhali-Mashobra Junction is being done at a cost of Rs 2,070 crore. It consists of 6 tunnels and seven bridges and flyovers.
