Former MP Pratibha Singh on Wednesday expressed happiness over the Congress party’s strong performance in the municipal elections and thanked the people of Himachal Pradesh for their support.
In a statement issued here, Pratibha Singh said the Congress contests elections on the basis of development and public welfare, whereas the BJP attempts to seek votes by playing with people’s emotions.
She alleged that while Congress believes in taking everyone along, the BJP indulges in politics based on regionalism and religion. According to her, the municipal election results have clearly indicated that public opinion in the state is in favour of Congress.
Expressing confidence over the upcoming civic body polls, she said the Congress would also emerge victorious in the elections to the four municipal corporations.
Pratibha Singh urged party workers to work unitedly to ensure the victory of Congress-backed candidates in the Gram Panchayat elections and asked them to make people aware of what she termed as the “misleading propaganda” of the BJP.
She said rural development remains the main objective of the Congress government and stressed the need to strengthen Congress ideology to ensure that welfare schemes of the state government reach people effectively at their doorsteps.
The former MP congratulated party leaders, office-bearers and workers for the party’s success and once again thanked the people of the state for their support.
