Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi distributed leaflets to drivers at CMP crossing as part of the road safety campaign on Tuesday. Apart from this, he also called for strict adherence to traffic rules.
Earlier, a meeting regarding Road Safety Month was also organized under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner. It was decided in the meeting that health camps would be organized in Shoghi, Theog, Saraswati Nagar and Duttnagar where training would be given about the role of first responders in treating the injured during road accidents. These camps will be organized by the Health Department from 15 to 18 January 2025. Similarly, a bike rally will be organized on January 10. Eye check-up camps will be organized during the passing of vehicles on January 8, 17 and 18 and a blood donation camp will also be organized on the Ridge grounds on January 23.
*Cash prizes will be given to the winners of competitions*
Essay writing competition, painting competition and slogan writing competition will be organized online. In this, the first place winner will be given a cash prize of Rs 05 thousand, the second place winner will be given Rs 03 thousand and the third place winner will be given a cash prize of Rs 02 thousand. Apart from this, two consolation prizes will also be given in every competition. This competition will be held in two categories, under 15 years of age and above 15 years of age. The theme of all these competitions will be road safety.
*A large scale program will be organized at Gaiety on 31st January*
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that the campaign regarding road safety will be organized across the district till January 31. A massive program will be organized at Gaiety on January 31. He said that everyone should do their duty in following the traffic rules on the road. The district administration will also organize health camps, blood donation camps and various competitions under this campaign. He said that people should remain under discipline while driving. Drivers must protect their own lives and also ensure the lives of others.
The Road Safety Week campaign aims to create a sense of collective responsibility among both vehicle owners and pedestrians. The aim of the Road Safety Month is to educate and sensitize youth, elders and even children to wear helmets while driving two-wheelers and seat belts while driving four-wheelers. Along with this, people should also follow traffic signals, board signs and permitted speed limits. Helmet Awareness for Children, This will serve the broader but integral purpose of spreading road safety awareness during the month.
Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that people will be made aware under Road Safety Month. People will be given detailed information about traffic rules. The campaign aims to educate drivers about road safety and reduce accidents on the roads by promoting safe driving practices among current and prospective drivers.
