A three-member team of New Development Bank from Shanghai met the Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri here today and discussed various issues related to funding of the Shimla Ropeway Project.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the team that all necessary formalities would be completed by the State Government so that the Bank could proceed further with the loan negotiations with the Department of Economic Affairs as per the timeline fixed in the memorandum.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the project would go a long way in reducing traffic congestion from the town vis-à-vis helping reduce carbon footprints paving the way for a mission of Greener and Cleaner Himachal. Besides this, the ropeway will also be the faster mode of transportation.
The team led by Tony Nkuna with Charmaine Kazamula and Garvit Sah as members, will visit the proposed stations of Shimla’s innovative Urban transportation project after a detailed discussion with the financial and technical experts including Director Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RTDC) Er. Ajay Sharma and other experts of RTDC.
The ropeway project will have 13 boarding and deboarding stations with a total length of 13.80 km and cost RS. 1734.70 crore.
