Computerization of PACS is an important step towards digital transformation in the cooperative sector – Deputy Commissioner
A meeting of the Deputy Commissioner and District Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (DLIMC) was held here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap. The meeting discussed in detail the selection of eligible societies for Phase-III under the centrally sponsored project for computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS).
The meeting was informed that this ambitious project, run by the central government, aims to fully computerize PACS and integrate them into modern digital systems. The project includes providing hardware, comprehensive ERP software, training, handholding assistance, maintenance, and internet connectivity, making PACS operations more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly.
The meeting was informed that a total of 200 Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS) are registered in Shimla district, of which 49 are inactive. The district-level committee has previously recommended 99 societies for computerization. Of these, 30 PACS are included in Phase I and 69 in Phase II. Of these, 96 PACS have been prepared as e-PACS and have been issued handover certificates.
Based on the proposals submitted by the Assistant Registrars of Cooperative Societies, Shimla and Jubbal, the Committee decided to recommend 12 PACS/M-PACS and 11 PACS/M-PACS, a total of 23 eligible PACS/ M -PACS, to the State Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (SLIMC) for computerization under Phase III. Additionally, proposals from the newly formed 4 M-PACS will also be included for consideration in the next phase.
At the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that computerization of PACS is an important step towards digital transformation in the cooperative sector. This will make the functioning of the committees more transparent, accountable, and effective, and provide modern and quick services to farmers and rural consumers.
Rajeshwar Singh AGM Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank, Shyam Heta Senior Manager Cooperative Bank, Kanchan Lata Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies, Vivek DDM NABARD along with Gauri Shankar and Hari Chand were specially present in the meeting.
