Shimla, August 15: The management, teachers and students of Delhi Public School (DPS), Shimla, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm, with a series of cultural and educational activities highlighting the values of freedom, unity and responsible citizenship.
A special assembly presented by students of Classes IV, V and VI reflected the spirit of nationalism and love for the country. Students of Classes I A and I B added vibrancy to the celebrations with energetic dance performances on patriotic songs, winning appreciation from the audience.
A declamation competition was also organised, providing students an opportunity to express their views on patriotism, national pride and the responsibilities of a good citizen.
The highlight of the programme was the powerful street play “Hum Sab Deshbhakt Banenge”, presented by students of Classes III to V. Through the performance, the students conveyed that true patriotism is reflected not only in words but also in one’s actions, choices and responsibilities towards the nation.
The celebrations were graced by Sant Ram Bhikta, a retired Army personnel and proud grandparent, whose presence added to the patriotic spirit of the occasion.
Addressing the students, Headmistress Veena Chauhan emphasised the importance of patriotism, unity and civic responsibility. She encouraged the young learners to develop a renewed sense of love for the nation and to uphold the values expected of responsible citizens.
The celebration concluded with a strong message of “Nation First”, as the DPS Shimla community came together to honour India’s freedom, values and the responsibilities that bind the nation together.
