Mandi, August 15: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh honoured individuals and institutions for their outstanding contributions in various fields during the district-level Independence Day celebrations in Mandi on Saturday.
The minister, who was the chief guest, also felicitated parade contingents and cultural groups that participated in the celebrations.
Among those honoured were DSP Sundernagar Bharat Bhushan, Inspector Sanjay Kumar, Sub-Inspector Daulat Ram and Constable Hansraj for their work in investigating cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Head Constable Munish Kumar was recognised for effective enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act, while Head Constable Chandrakant was honoured for his work in tracing missing persons.
Sanskriti Mahila Mandal, Sadyana, and Nasha Nivaran Samiti, Kummi, were felicitated for their efforts to spread awareness about drug abuse among villagers, particularly the youth.
District Development Officer Gopichand Pathak and Head Home Guard Manohar Lal were honoured for their effective work during a natural calamity. Suraj Gupta, driver attached to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil), Sadar, was recognised for displaying courage during an encounter with the mining mafia.
Amrit Kaur, a clerk in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, was also felicitated for winning a bronze medal in the 72-kg category at the All India Civil Services Wrestling Championship.
Students, cultural groups felicitated
Students from Sangeet Sadan Mandi, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Pandoh, Government Nursing Training Institute Mandi, District Education and Training Institute Mandi and Government Vallabh Degree College Mandi were honoured for their cultural performances during the Independence Day programme.

The minister also felicitated personnel involved in the ceremonial parade, including Parade Commander SI Shyam Lal, Assistant Parade Commander SI Anoop Kumar, Police Platoon Commander ASI Vishal Sharma, ASI Suman of the Women Police, Home Guard women contingent member HHG Sheela, Home Guard male contingent member HHG Sher Singh and Platoon Commander Mohit of the 2 HP Battalion NCC Army Wing.
Mridul from the NCC Air Wing, Mahendra from the Boys School, Niharika from PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School Mandi, Naitik from Indus Global School, Dixit from the Scout and Guide Boys School and Suryansh of the National Service Scheme from Government Senior Secondary School Mandi were also honoured.
St Francis Xavier Convent School, Bagla, and Home Guard Corps Band Master HHG Padam Dev, along with other police personnel involved in parade duty, were also felicitated for their contribution to the successful conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.
