Public Works Minister attended the block level farmers’ conference at Hashkardhar in Gram Panchayat Chanawag as the chief guest.
Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that through the Agriculture Department, the government is making efforts to motivate farmers and gardeners to adopt modern agricultural techniques, grow cash crops, and adopt natural farming.
He was addressing the villagers present in the Kisan Sammelan after attending the one day block level Kisan Sammelan as the chief guest at Hashkardhar in Chanawag, the last and remote Panchayat of Shimla Rural Assembly Constituency today.
540 hectares of land in Shimla Rural Assembly Constituency covered under natural farming
He said that the government is promoting natural farming to strengthen farmers economically. Natural agriculture was started in the state in 2018 and from 2018 till date, 2.22 lakh farmers are strengthening their economy by adopting natural farming. He said that till now Rs 5.50 crore has been spent to encourage farmers to adopt modern farming, which has benefited about 35 thousand farmers. Fifty clusters are operational in Shimla district, under which 3734 hectares of land in the district has been brought under natural farming, in which 540 hectares of land in Shimla Rural Assembly constituency has been covered under natural farming.

Giving details of the development of the Panchayat area, he said that during the current government, an amount of approximately 18 lakh rupees has been approved for the development of Chanawag Panchayat. Congratulating the villagers for reopening the closed primary school in Hashkardhar, he said that providing education to children in remote areas at their doorsteps is a priority for the government. He added that 20 lakh rupees have been approved for the construction of the ground wall of the Senior Secondary School, Chanawag, and the tender process has been initiated. He said that the link road from Juda to Khurana will be handed over and constructed by the Public Works Department, while the road from Judla to Hashkardhar will be constructed on a priority basis, for which he directed the concerned officials to prepare a survey and estimate.
More than Rs 11 crore is being spent on drinking water schemes.
He said that an amount of Rs 3.20 crore is being spent on the Galog Ghandal lift drinking water scheme and Rs 4.75 crore on the Basantpur Kalvi lift drinking water scheme. He said that 70 percent of the work of the Sainj-Macharana lift drinking water scheme being constructed for this area at a cost of Rs 3.19 crore has been completed. To complete the stalled work of this scheme, provision of additional budget will be made and this scheme will be completed. With the completion of this scheme, the people of two Panchayats of this area, Chanawag and Nehra will get adequate drinking water facility.

Announcement of giving Rs 7 lakh for 2 roads and Rs 2 lakh for community building
He announced Rs 5 lakh for the construction of the link road from Chanawag to Harsangdhar, Rs 2 lakh for the construction of the link road from Dhamra Dora to Durgapur and Rs 2 lakh for the construction of a community hall in Hashkardhar.
Project Director ATMA DC Kashyap gave detailed information regarding adoption of natural farming in the farmers’ conference and also gave information about various schemes of the Agriculture Department.
Cultural performances were also given by school children. The chief guest announced a donation of 11,000 rupees from his discretionary fund to the children who presented cultural programs.
