Instructions issued to schools to use boiled water
The meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
The deputy commissioner directed that fresh food items should be used in the midday meal in schools. Water will be used in schools only after boiling it. If any kind of complaint is found regarding the midday meal in any school, strict action will be taken. He instructed the field staff to collect samples of the midday meal food from schools from time to time. He said that there are big hotels and restaurants in the entire district, which should be sampled regularly so that people get the best and freshest food items.
In the meeting, 652 registrations were done from April to June 30, while 7 licenses were issued. 103 registrations and 12 licenses were given in the Shimla Municipal Corporation area. 171 samples of milk and other milk products were taken, out of which 131 were from the Municipal Corporation area and 40 from across the district. All these samples were taken through the mobile food testing lab. Apart from this, samples of midday meals from 9 schools were taken. Apart from this, samples of food items were taken from shops around many schools. Samples were also taken from Public Works Department Headquarters, SJVN Shanan, SBI Kasumpti, and Hippa Canteen.
