Approval given for upgradation of Chhaila-Neripul-Yashwant Nagar-Kumarhatti and Tikkar-Jarol-Khamari road projects
Himachal Pradesh has been granted administrative approval of ₹239.45 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) 2026–27 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India. This approval will upgrade two important road projects in the state, providing better road connectivity, especially to apple-producing and horticultural areas.
Continuous efforts yield positive results
Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that this approval is the result of sustained and coordinated efforts by the state government and the Public Works Department. He explained that these projects were effectively raised with the Government of India and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, resulting in the state receiving this important approval.
He said that the state government and the Public Works Department have consistently presented these projects to the Government of India and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. According to him, it is the positive result of these continuous efforts that Himachal Pradesh has received this important approval of Rs 239.45 crore.
He said that the state government will soon complete all the necessary formalities related to both the projects and start the construction work on priority basis, so that the public can get their benefits in a timely manner.
Major approved projects
Projects approved under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) 2026–27
₹203.52 crore – for upgradation of Chaila-Neripul-Yashwant Nagar-Kumarhatti road.
Rs 35.93 crore – For upgradation of remaining 16 km stretch of Tikkar-Jarol-Khamari road from the earlier package.
Total sanctioned amount: Rs 239.45 crore
Farmers and gardeners of Rampur area will get benefit
The Public Works Minister stated that the remaining 16 kilometers of the Tikkar-Jarol-Khamari road had not been approved in the first package. Now, with this approval, the entire road can be upgraded. This will provide improved transportation facilities for farmers and gardeners, especially those in the Rampur Assembly constituency.
Connectivity of apple producing areas will be strengthened
He said that the Chhaila-Neripul-Yashwant Nagar-Kumarhatti road is the lifeline of the state’s major apple-producing areas of Theog, Kotkhai, Jubbal, Rohru, and Chaupal. Upgrading this road will speed up and facilitate the transportation of apples and other horticultural products, reduce transportation costs, and provide better markets for farmers and orchardists. This will also boost the region’s rural economy.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh stated that these are not just road projects, but investments in the future of the state’s farmers and orchardists. Improved road connectivity will provide new impetus to the horticulture sector and strengthen the state’s economy. The interests of Himachal Pradesh are the government’s top priority. The state government will continue to work above party politics and maintain positive coordination with the Government of India to promote the state’s development and protect the interests of farmers and orchardists. He expressed confidence that these projects will accelerate the pace of development in remote areas of the state and inject new energy into the rural economy.
