Shimla, July 16:
The Union Government has appointed Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS officer Nipun Jindal (2014 batch) as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), New Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the appointment has been approved by the competent authority for a period of four years from the date of assuming charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The DoPT has asked the Himachal Pradesh government to relieve Jindal immediately so that he can take up his new assignment in the Department of Economic Affairs without delay.
The order also reiterates that, under the Central Staffing Scheme guidelines, the officer must join the post within three weeks of the issuance of the appointment order, failing which the process for debarment from the scheme may be initiated.
The communication, dated July 16, 2026, has been addressed to the Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, with copies marked to the Department of Economic Affairs and other concerned authorities.
