Shimla, September 2: Himachal Pradesh recorded 1,287 rape cases and 309 murder cases during the past three years, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu informed the Assembly on Tuesday.
Replying to a written question by Karsog BJP MLA Deep Raj, Sukhu said that 66 rape cases resulted in convictions, while 775 cases were pending before courts during the period.
The state also recorded 309 murder cases during the three-year period. Of these, accused were convicted in five cases, while six cases ended in acquittal. As many as 233 murder cases are currently under trial, according to the government data.
Sukhu said that up to July 31, 2026, Himachal Pradesh had registered a total of 5,773 cases related to murder, theft, robbery and kidnapping.
These included 309 murder cases, 3,481 theft cases, 13 robbery cases and 1,970 kidnapping cases, the chief minister said.
The figures were placed before the Assembly amid concerns over the law-and-order situation in the state.
