Shimla, May 24
An HRTC Volvo bus travelling from Delhi to Shimla was allegedly stopped near Kaithlighat after overtaking an HR-registered Scorpio vehicle, leading to an assault on the bus driver by occupants of the SUV on Saturday morning.
According to Shimla Police, the incident occurred when the Volvo bus overtook the Scorpio while heading towards Shimla. Angered by the move, some individuals travelling in the SUV allegedly intercepted the bus and assaulted the driver.
Police teams from Baluganj police station rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and detained two accused on the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pankaj, 33, son of Shiv Kumar, and Vikas Kumar, 22, son of Vilakshan Ram, both residents of Panchkula, Haryana.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and both have been formally arrested.
Police said the investigation is underway and the role of other persons involved in the incident is also being examined.
Shimla Police stated that strict legal action will be taken against those attempting to disturb law and order or indulge in violence against public service personnel.
