Drobotics Lab, and Technovatorz club of ECE Department of JUIT, Solan, Himachal Pradesh along with the IEEE JUIT Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE R10 EAC, IEEE India Council, and IEEE Delhi Section, hosted 21 students from Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla, for an engaging day of technical exposure and hands-on learning on August 25, 2026.
The visit provided students with an opportunity to interact with faculty members and volunteers while exploring diverse fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, industrial automation, Internet of Things (IoT), and modern electronics. Demonstrations of student projects helped the young learners understand how emerging technologies are being applied to solve practical problems. Head of the ECE department Dr. Shweta Pandit welcomed all the young minds and motivated them for innovation and technology related learning opportunities at JUIT.
A key highlight of the visit was a dedicated session on “Agentic AI and Autonomous Task Execution” held at the Digital Learning Centre. The session introduced students to the evolving capabilities of AI systems that can move beyond prediction towards independent reasoning, decision-making and action. Students learned how AI agents can plan and execute multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention, offering them an early glimpse into the practical applications of autonomous AI. The visiting students actively participated in the session and raised several insightful questions about the functioning of AI agents. Students also visited Mitsubishi Factory Automation Lab, established through an MoU between JUIT and Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited. The lab provided students with practical exposure to industrial automation technologies, training equipment, programming, and simulation tools, robotic arms under the session taken by Dr. Salman Raju Talluti and Dr. Pardeep Garg. This facility of the Department of ECE helped our students understand how automation is transforming industries and preparing the future workforce for Industry 4.0.
Students also had an opportunity to visit Drobotics Lab, a state-of-the-art facility focused on robotics, autonomous systems, human-robot interaction, and industrial automation. The lab provided students with hands-on exposure to technologies such as professional drones, quadruped robots, AI-powered edge computing platforms, and autonomous systems. The session in the Drobotics lab was conducted by Dr. Vikas Baghel, Dr. Aman Sharma, and Drobotics Lab council students led by Mr. Abhinandit Singh, who is vice president of Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC) student council. ECE Department and the IEEE JUIT Student Branch expressed gratitude to Auckland House School for the visit and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting STEM education, innovation and creativity among school students. The initiative aims to inspire young minds to apply technology towards practical and societal challenges.
