The Mandi district’s 42 MW Baggi Hydro Project has once again been stalled due to the new energy policy of the state government.
The BBMB Chairman visited the Sundarnagar BSL Project. During this, he also inspected the school hospital of Pandoh, Baggi, and the BSL project. While talking informally to journalists at Suket Sadan, BBMB Chairman Manoj Tripathi said that despite the disaster, BBMB has achieved the target of electricity production this time also.
On the stalling of work of the 42 MW Baggi Hydro Project, the Chairman said that if the Himachal government agrees to only 12 percent free electricity, then BBMB will soon start the construction of the Baggi Hydro Project. But ever since the Himachal government has demanded 20 to 40 percent share in free electricity in its new energy policy, the construction of the Baggi Hydro Project has been delayed. In this project, there is an agreement with the Himachal government to provide 12 percent free electricity. But now after the share of free electricity has increased through the new energy policy of the Himachal government, the tension between the Himachal government and BBMB has increased regarding free electricity. The brunt of which is being borne by the Baggi Hydro Project.
He said that other official formalities along with the environmental and forest department approval of the Baggi Hydro Project have been completed. But due to the delay in the project, the cost is also increasing.
The burden of that is also falling on BBMB. While the tender for the Baggi Hydro Project had also been placed last year. But it was cancelled due to the new energy policy of the state government. Along with this, he said that efforts are being made to overcome the shortage of teachers in BBMB schools.
He also appealed to the Himachal government to appoint teachers in the schools of the BSL project. Similarly, discussions were also held to fill the vacant posts of doctors in the BBMB hospital. He said that there is no shortage of medicines in the hospital from BBMB. But due to the non-availability of doctors, discussions were also held for their recruitment in the hospital. He said that it has been 40 years since the Dehar Power House was built.
A DPR is being made to install new technology machines in this power house. Its renovation will start only after the approval of the Center.
