Additional District Magistrate Jyoti Rana performed yoga at APG Shimla University, gave the message of staying away from addiction and staying healthy through yoga

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, realizing the resolution of the theme of International Yoga Day 2025, Yoga for One Earth, One Health, a yoga training awareness program organized in the APG Shimla university campus by the Student Welfare Department and Media Department of the University under the leadership of Dean Dr. Neelam Sharma and Dr. Vijayshree, in which all the students of APG Shimla University, professors, teachers, employees, officers, local villagers and Home Guards of Himachal Pradesh Home Guard Training Command center located in Kwara village and NDRF jawans participated in yoga session and various types of yogasanas. The objective of this program was to reduce problems related to physical labor, relieve mental stress and bring positive changes in lifestyle. On this occasion, Jyoti Rana, Additional District Magistrate Shimla, participated in the yoga camp as the chief guest and gave the message of ‘Do yoga, get rid of diseases, stay away from addiction, healthy life through yoga’, while well-known Art of Living Guru and Yogacharya Aditya Sood joined the yoga camp as a instructor. The program was started by the chief guest, Additional District Magistrate Jyoti Rana, by garlanding the statue of Maa Saraswati and lighting the lamp. Pro-Chancellor of APG Shimla University, Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan and Chancellor Engineer Suman Vikrant, and Registrar Prof. Dr. R. Sharma welcomed the chief guest Jyoti Rana and the guest of honour Yogacharya Aditya Sood, who attended the camp, by presenting Himachali cap and shawl and thanked them for inspiring the young generation towards yoga and healthy life. Pro- chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, while addressing all the yoga practitioners in the camp, said that today is being celebrated as Yoga day not only in the country but all over the world. Chauhan said that yoga has been used by sages and saints in India since the Vedic period as a form of yoga practice to make life healthy and happy. Chauhan said that India has been the first promoter of yoga in the world since ancient times and today the importance of yoga is increasing in the world and people are adopting yoga to make their lives healthy and happy.
About 250 sadhaks participated in the yoga camp. Art of Living Guru Yogacharya Aditya Sood made students, teachers, employees, officers, NSS volunteers and Himachal Pradesh Home and NDRF soldiers do special yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation yoga activities and yoga mudras, which are helpful in reducing common problems and diseases like pain, joint problems, fatigue, stress. Yogacharya Aditya Sood said that by doing yoga, we should work to keep our body healthy and cooperate and stay away from the evils of addiction and work to strengthen the society and the nation. Aditya Sood and his team in the yoga camp taught Chakrasana, Padahastasana, Shirshasana, Mayurasana, Surya Namaskar, Padmasana, Vajrasana, Siddhasana, Viparitakarni Asana, Pawanmuktasana, Naukasana, Shavasana, Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Trikonasana, Veerbhadrasana, Padmasana, Sukhasana, Paschimottanasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana, Bhujangasana, Ustrasana, Urdhvamukh. Yogasanas like Shvanasana, Uttanasana, Prasarita Padottanasana, Vrikshasana, Adho Mukha Svanasana, Viparita Karani, Shavasana, Supta Baddha Konasana were conducted.
On this occasion, Chief Guest Additional District Magistrate Jyoti Rana, while addressing the present students, teachers, staff, officers, local people and Home Guards and NDRF personnel, said that Yoga is not only a medium of physical fitness but also a source of mental peace and energy. Through International Yoga Day, we want to give the message that by including yoga in our daily life, make life more healthy and strong. Chief guest Rana said that yoga is an integral part of life. Yoga also increases immunity. By doing yoga regularly, we can also avoid unnecessary diseases. Chief guest Rana said that yoga helps in protecting life from stress. Rana said that today drug addiction is increasing in the world and the young generation is falling prey to this drug addiction and to stay away from addiction, yoga practice, sports and counseling are necessary. Rana said that in today’s era, everyone is suffering from some problem or the other and most of the problems are from oneself and to get rid of this, yoga practice, positive thinking, honesty, discipline, feeling of public welfare, love, satisfaction and hard work are helpful in making life healthy as well as in a happy life. Rana said that yoga is a discipline for living a right human life as well as a guide for living a right life and yoga is also the basis of spiritual life. Chancellor of APG Shimla University Engineer Suman Vikrant, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, Registrar Prof. Dr. R.L. Sharma, Head of Department Prof. Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Neelam Sharma, Media Incharge Dr. Vijayshree and Heads of Departments of other streams also performed yoga exercises sitting among the yoga practitioners. Registrar Prof. Dr. R.L. Sharma, while presenting the vote of thanks for the successful organization of the program, thanked the chief guest Jyoti Rana, Yogacharya Aditya Sood, program organizers Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Vijay Shree, university management, participating students, teachers, employees, officers, H.P। home guards and NDRF soldiers and urged to include yoga in their daily lifestyle for a healthy life.
