Prof. Sudhir Syal and Prof. Ashish Kumar got an award of excellence from Member of Parliament Sh. Anurag Sharma, in the Chief Minister Educational Conclave on 25th September, organised by Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (HPPERC). They got the award on biogas reactors installations with a cumulative capacity of about 31 m³ across Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh, including installations at government, educational, defence and industrial institutions. Prof. Sudhir and Prof. Ashish developed biogas solutions particularly suited to hilly and rural regions, addressing food-waste management while generating renewable energy and supporting decentralized waste-to-energy applications. They along with their team members jointly executed three funded research projects and two patents. At the time of recent LPG crisis, the biogas digesters at their campus were used to prepare tea for faculty and staff. Both scientists thanked CEO of JUIT Sh. Manu Bhaskar Gaur and Vice Chancellor Prof. R.K. Sharma for supporting the research on sustainable technologies for rural development.
JUIT B.Tech. Computer Science Engineering student and cadet, Ms. Ananya Negi also received the award from member parliament for representing Himachal Pradesh at the national level under the Ministry of Youth Affairs in the prestigious “Know Your Leader” Programme, held at the Central Hall, Sansad Bhawan, New Delhi, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Ms. Negi participated alongside students and representatives from various States and Union Territories across the country and participated in an interactive session with the Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla.
