On the invitation of the Wildlife Wing of the HP Forest Department, Mr. Anand Malligavad, known as the “Lake Man of India,” visited the Shri Renuka Ji Wetland. He was invited to offer his advice on the conservation issues faced by the department at the wetland. Anand Malligavad is a water conservationist and environmentalist from Bengaluru who has worked to restore many lakes in India. He has revitalized over 100 lakes using traditional techniques, improved local climates, enhanced biodiversity, raised awareness about water conservation, and brought clean water to communities across India.
At Renuka Ji, he had a detailed discussion with the department officials and local community members and visited the catchment area of the wetland. He will be submitting a report to the department regarding his findings and will advise on the steps needed for the conservation of the wetland.
