Seminars on the topic “TB Free India” were organized under the joint aegis of National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit- 1 and Red Ribbon Club at Shahpur Campus and Dhauladhar Campus 1 of Himachal Pradesh Central University. District Tuberculosis Officer Kangra Dr. RK Sood and WHO Advisor , National TB Elimination Program , Dr. Kamesh Venkatesan were present as keynote speakers in the program organized at Shahpur Campus of the University.
He discussed Tuberculosis (TB) and various aspects related to it and interacted with the students. He stressed the need for community participation and strengthening health services to eliminate TB. In the program, Dr. Sunil Kumar (Dean Student Welfare), Program Chairman and Dr. Bhag Chand Chauhan (Director , Shahpur Campus) marked their presence as special guests. During the program, Dr. Jitendra Kumar (NSS Program Officer , Shahpur Campus) and Dr. Murali (Coordinator , Red Ribbon Club , Shahpur Campus) were thanked for spreading awareness on this important topic. At the same time, the ‘ TB Free India ‘ campaign got new energy in a special program organized by the Red Ribbon Club in Dhauladhar Campus-1 . This program was organized by the Red Ribbon Club. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sood, District Kangra TB Officer was present as the chief guest in the program and Dr. Lalit Mohan, Assistant Professor was present as the special guest . The aim of the programme was to spread awareness about TB among students, teachers and the local community and to motivate them to make collective efforts for the elimination of this disease. In his address, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sood gave detailed information about TB and explained how treatment of this disease is possible. Club coordinators , Dr. Bharat Singh and Dr. Amrik Singh Thakur informed that the club organised various activities like seminars , workshops , poster and slogan competitions , street plays etc. to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases , dangers of drugs , tobacco and alcohol. Health check-up camps, HIV/AIDS tests, blood pressure , sugar level tests etc. were organised.
