At least 105 Indian nationals are among 384 travellers reported missing after a devastating flash flood struck Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa district on Wednesday, according to a preliminary list compiled by the Nepal Tourism Board.
The list includes 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepali citizens. In addition to the 105 Indians, 37 non-resident Indians (NRIs) have also been listed among those whose whereabouts are still being verified. Authorities cautioned that the figures are preliminary and could change as travel agencies, guides, local authorities and security agencies cross-check records.
The flash flood triggered widespread destruction in the Himalayan district, damaging settlements and infrastructure and complicating rescue operations. Search and verification efforts are continuing as authorities work to establish the safety and whereabouts of those reported missing.
