In a moment of pride for Himachal Pradesh, Nikita Chauhan from Sirmaur district has been selected for the Indian women’s kabaddi team for the upcoming Asian Games.
Nikita, a resident of Barol Panchayat in Haripurdhar, is the only player from Himachal Pradesh to make it to the national squad. She belongs to the Hatti community of the Giripar region, where young women are increasingly making a mark in kabaddi at the international level.
The Asian Games kabaddi competition is scheduled to be held in China from April 22 to April 27. With her selection, Nikita will now represent not only India but also showcase Himachal’s sporting talent on the international stage.
Her achievement has brought immense pride to the region and serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes, especially young girls, across the state.
