Arki, July 14: A seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) Special Camp concluded at Lakshya Public Senior Secondary School, Arki, with a call for students to uphold the values of selfless service, discipline and social responsibility.
Block Health Supervisor, Arki, Hemendra Salaria, who attended the valedictory function as the chief guest, urged volunteers to remain committed to cleanliness, health awareness, drug de-addiction, environmental conservation and community service. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana.
Addressing the gathering, Salaria said the core objective of the National Service Scheme is to nurture leadership qualities, discipline and a sense of responsibility among young people. Referring to the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” he described it as a guiding principle of selfless service and humanity, adding that society can witness meaningful change if the youth adopt these values in their daily lives.
He lauded the volunteers for their active participation in shramdaan, cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns and other community-oriented activities during the week-long camp. He said such initiatives contribute significantly to the holistic development of students and encouraged them to continue serving society beyond the camp.
Welcoming the chief guest, Vice-Principal Veena Panwar said the camp featured daily yoga and physical exercise sessions, cleanliness drives, plantation activities, awareness rallies, group discussions and creative programmes on social and environmental issues. Interactive sessions with resource persons from different fields also provided students with practical guidance and motivation.
She said the primary aim of the camp was to instil service-mindedness, discipline, leadership skills, self-confidence and social responsibility among students, adding that the volunteers fulfilled these objectives with dedication and enthusiasm.
The closing ceremony also featured cultural performances highlighting patriotism, social awareness and India’s cultural heritage. Through group songs, folk dances and a short play, the volunteers spread messages on cleanliness, drug de-addiction, environmental protection and social harmony. The performances were appreciated by guests and parents.
Shivesh was honoured with the Best Volunteer Award for exemplary discipline, leadership, service spirit and active participation during the camp. Presenting the award, the chief guest congratulated the student and encouraged others to draw inspiration from his commitment.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all guests, teachers and volunteers who contributed to the success of the camp, followed by the National Anthem. Among those present were Vice-Principal Veena Panwar, NSS Programme Officers Nidhi Chauhan and Pankaj, DPE Jugal Kishore, teacher Mahanti Devi, attendant Kiran Thapa, faculty members and NSS volunteers.
