Alleged Irregularities in MGNREGA, Rural Development Works
Chamba, August 19: An outsourced Junior Engineer has been terminated over alleged irregularities in MGNREGA and other rural development works in Gram Panchayats Mehla and Dhimla under the Mehla development block of Chamba district.
The action was reportedly taken following findings of an administrative inquiry, earlier show-cause notices and issues related to the employee’s work and conduct. The Block Development Officer issued the termination orders on Tuesday.
The Junior Engineer has been directed to hand over all records and charge related to the two panchayats to other Junior Engineers.
Meanwhile, show-cause notices have also been issued to a Junior Accounts Assistant (MGNREGA) and a Gram Rozgar Sevak. According to the notices, their services could be terminated within a month if their responses are found unsatisfactory.
The two employees have been asked to explain allegations that they facilitated payments for works that were allegedly not carried out in Gram Panchayats Mehla and Dhimla.
The matter reportedly came to light after a complaint was filed by Ramesh Kumar of Kuthwadi village regarding alleged irregularities in MGNREGA and other development works.
Mehla Block Development Officer Bashir Khan said action had been taken against the Junior Engineer in accordance with the rules based on the facts that emerged during the inquiry, while show-cause notices had been issued to the other two employees.
